RE/MAX International sponsors two programs designed to enable its agents to “give back” when they sell a home.  The Debbie
Reed Team has participated in the “Home for a Cure” program since 2008, giving a donation to the Susan G. Komen organization with each settlement.

Starting in January, 2015, the DRT has included Children’s Miracle Network (through RE/MAX’s Miracle Home Program) and U.S. Veterans’ programs as beneficiaries to its charitable giving practices.  We believe in these philanthropies and in the good work they are doing to improve the health and welfare of the men, women and children they serve.

Polar Bear Plunge PosterAre You Ready to Take the Plunge?

A refreshing dip in the Atlantic Ocean sounds fun and refreshing in July, but in the middle of winter??  Yet every year since the inaugural Polar Bear Plunge in 1992, people have gathered in Coastal Delaware to be challenged by the brisk waters and to raise money for a most worthy cause--Special Olympics.

The first Polar Bear Plunge for Special Olympics in Delaware was held at Cape Henlopen State Park 23 years ago.  It attracted 78 Plungers who raised $7,000 for the cause.  In 1998, a nor'easter damaged the park and the event was moved to Rehoboth Beach, where it has been held and grown each year since.  In 2014, 3,252 Bears plunged for a grand total of $725,000 for Special Olympics.  Perhaps 2015's efforts will reach the $1,000,000 mark!

What started as a single event has grown into a weekend of fun family activities.  This year's event starts on Friday, January 30.  The actual Plunge will be held on Sunday, February 1, 2015 at the end of Rehoboth Ave. on the beach, at 1:00 p.m., followed by an Apres Plunge Party at the Convention Center.  Pre-Plunge activities include a Pooch Plunge on Saturday at 11:00 a.m., a 5K run, and a Restaurant Chili Cook-Off Contest.  Full information, including online registration, may be found at the Plunge website.
