Milton

Milton is a picturesque small town along the Broadkill River, rich in Victorian architecture and known for its artsy, historic character. Once a historic shipbuilding powerhouse during the 19th century, producing schooners and clippers that sailed worldwide. Many of the Victorian homes in town were built by ship captains and craftsmen from that era. Milton also has more than 200 structures listed on the National Register of Historic Places. Now, the town thrives as a cultural destination with galleries, boutiques, farmers’ markets and beloved Dogfish Head Brewery. Residents are drawn to its family-friendly environment and active civic pride, while its proximity to beaches makes it appealing for commuters and second-home buyers. Milton’s tree-lined streets and historic homes offer a timeless charm, paired with a growing foodie scene and local events that celebrate its heritage. Just outside Milton sits Lavender Fields at Warrington Manor, one of the few lavender farms in Delaware. It’s a fragrant, colorful attraction that draws visitors for festivals, fresh products, and serene walking gardens.
